Back in 2011, Driver San Francisco was my most anticipated release of the year.
For my Christmas gaming memory, I want to talk about the other 364 days of the year. The “un-Christmas” if you will – and what those days meant to a little gamer in the pre-internet days.
“Santa can’t give you both, so you have to pick one of them.”
Like any other child born in the ’90s, my experience in the early 2000’s was a fever-induced hallucination of Spongebob episodes which can be clearly remembered to this day.
The world has got a smile today
The world has got a glow
There’s no such thing as strangers
When a stranger says “Hello”
And everyone is family
We’re having so much fun
After all there’s only one more sleep till Christmas
–Paul Williams (The Muppet Christmas Carol, “One More Sleep Till Christmas”)
It is very difficult to top memories that are clouded with the rose-colored glasses of nostalgia
A look of disappointment started to wash over my face. Maybe Santa was real, maybe he was mad that I tried to catch him coming down the chimney…
