Greetings, fellow travelers! The Weekend Wizard Inn is open for business, so grab a seat and discuss what’s in your gaming quest log for the next few days. Maybe even do so over a piping bowl of ogre blood stew, a roasted giant’s toe, or a cool mug of our freshest snail ale! There’s a great spot over near the fire with some of your fellow mages, and it appears a purple-robed fella with a… creepy mask of sorts… is waving you over!
Happy May, folks! I’m Trash, a fellow mage, and every Friday afternoon I’ll be here at The Weekend Wizard Inn to help get the conversation started. Join in down in the comment section and let everybody know what’s on your gaming agenda this weekend!
Are you working through your backlog? Playing a hot new release? Maybe forgoing gaming in favor of something people call “real life stuff?”
On deck for me we have…
1: Chinese Paladin: The Legend of Sword and Fairy 6 (PS4)
We took in a 2-month-old stray pupper last month and decided to adopt him, but it’s been so long since I’ve had a puppy that I forgot how energetic they can be! He’s a blackmouth cur, which is a common breed here in the South, and we love him dearly… but he’s such a handful and requires 90% of our free time.
That being said, I’ve barely moved the needle on the Chinese RPG Sword and Fairy 6 since last Friday’s update. Maybe I’ll get a little more time this weekend? Doubtful, but hey, I can dream.
Friendly reminder: this game has some severe performance issues but the story, characters, and soundtrack are all outstanding.
2: Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn (PS4)
With the small amount of free time I do have I’ve been playing Final Fantasy XIV over on the Diabolos realm with some Twitter friends. I got my THM up to level 21 before deciding that I’d like a break from spellcasting (my go-to job role in any MMO I play) and would like to try my hand at tanking instead.
I decided to go with GLD over MRD because swords and shields are more my jam than swinging a giant weapon. I’m playing on PS4 and using a controller, so I wanted something that wasn’t too taxing with the controller’s limited button options. GLD (Gladiator) has an easy threat-generation rotation, an area-of-effect aggro ability in Flash, a taunt in Provoke, and some defensive abilities when things get harry.
I’ve yet to tank a dungeon, though. My anxiety is pretty bad and I wanted to use tanking as a way to push myself, but lately I’ve been doing levemetes as a way to get gear and gain levels.
I doubt I’ll have time for anything else, though. If I get an hour free here and there, Final Fantasy XIV is likely were I’ll spend it.
What about you, folks? Any big gaming plans this weekend? Sound off down in the comments!
