Greetings, fellow travelers! The Weekend Wizard Inn is open for business, so grab a seat and discuss what’s in your gaming quest log for the next few days. Maybe even do so over a piping bowl of ogre blood stew, a roasted giant’s toe, or a cool mug of our freshest snail ale! There’s a great spot over near the fire with some of your fellow mages, and it appears a purple-robed fella with a… creepy mask of sorts… is waving you over!
Hey, folks! Happy February! I’m Trash, a fellow mage, and every Friday afternoon I’ll be here at The Weekend Wizard Inn to help get the conversation started. Join in down in the comment section and let everybody know what’s on your gaming agenda this weekend!
Are you working through your backlog? Playing a hot new release? Maybe forgoing gaming in favor of something people call “real life stuff?”
On deck for me we have…
Death End Re;Quest (PS4)
I’m currently sitting around the 17-hour mark and judging by the story-based trophies I appear to be a little further than the halfway point. Just like I mentioned a few weeks ago, I’m really enjoying the darker tone of the visual novel segments (murders, conspiracy cults, etc.) and I’m still into the ping-pong combat system, but the RPG moments are far and away the weakest link.
It’s not what I’d call bad, but the environments are bland and most of the meat of the story takes place within the “real life” visual novel beats. The RPG side’s story is slowly becoming more interesting with the introduction of new characters, but man, this game has some of the most dull environmental design I’ve seen in a long, long time.
I’m not sure if I’ll have time to dig into anything else this weekend since I’m not close enough to finish off Death End Re;Quest. I try to avoid juggling multiple RPGs at once and right now there isn’t anything short-ish in my backlog that I’d want to jump between. I’d rather just dig in and focus on DERQ so I can get my review started, jump into Caligula Effect Overdose, and then revisit Labyrinth of Refrain: Coven of Dusk on Switch.
What about you, folks? Any big gaming plans this weekend?
