Greetings, fellow travelers! The Weekend Wizard Inn is open for business, so grab a seat and discuss what’s in your gaming quest log for the next few days. Maybe even do so over a piping bowl of ogre blood stew, a roasted giant’s toe, or a cool mug of our freshest male snail ale! There’s a great spot over near the fire with some of your fellow mages, and it appears a purple-robed fella with a… mask of sorts… is waving you over!
Hey, folks! I’m Trash, a fellow mage (and somehow always the first to arrive), and every Friday evening I’ll be here at The Weekend Wizard Inn to help get the conversation started.
On deck for me this weekend, we have…
1: Hollow Knight
I’m actually heading out on a 9-hour drive to Maryland tomorrow for the family Christmas shindig and splitting the drive with my mom. Since I’ve had Hollow Knight on my Switch for months now without touching it, what better time than now?
Hollow Knight has been out for a while, so I’m sure most of you know what it is already. For those who don’t, it’s essentially a 2D metroidvania-style game with a heavy emphasis on exploration, power-ups, and battling against tough boss encounters. On paper, it seems like my kind of game. But hearing about its sharp learning curve has kept it low on my must-play list. For now. Mom may hear her plenty of cussing.
2: Aaero: Complete Edition
An addition from last week, finishing up the music-heavy line-rider/Panzer Dragoon hybrid is going to be my backup plan in case Hollow Knight fails to hold my attention. It’s a great game full of stellar music that HOPEFULLY more people check out when it officially releases next week on the Switch.
3: A Case of Distrust
This is a text-heavy narrative adventure game set in 1924 San Fransisco, which I just picked up yesterday during the current (and massive) eShop sale on the Switch. It’s supposedly a brief tale that’s played out through a myriad of dialogue options and character silhouettes. Looks neat and I’ve heard great things about it, so I picked it up to see for myself.
I don’t think I’ll get to them this weekend, but I also grabbed Crossing Souls, Bleed 1 & 2, and Battle Chef Brigade because their prices were too good to ignore. I still have my eye on Black Bird, The Long Reach, and a few others, but my Switch is good and loaded already.
What about you, folks? What’s on the ol’ gaming quest log this weekend? Sound off down in the comments while I indulge in The Weekend Wizard Inn’s world famous goblin gut pie!
