“The following is a contributor post by the ABXY Mage.”
Music is a broad subject. Even narrowing the conversation down to only video game music leaves a lot of ground that could be covered.
So, as was expected, the initial recording for Side Quests was massive. So much so that it was made into three episodes. This, Part 3, is the conclusion.
In this episode, The Well-Red Mage and I start by discussing iconic songs from multiple games, franchises, and composers. We then move on to music and game genres, and how they mix, as well as games that attempt to incorporate silence into their soundtracks. And, finally, we close with some favorites and recommendations.
I would like to, once again, thank The Well-Red Mage for appearing in my first episode (three episodes) and for being such a great guest. Also, thank you to everyone who has listened and is listening. I hope you’ve been enjoying Side Quests as much as I am.
Tune in next Quest for a discussion with The Bizzaro Mage on how well Resident Evil (1996) holds up in 2018.
The ABXY Mage leads a double life of unfathomable hipness, if his expertise in jazz is any indication. Music maker, fandangoist, writer, you can find this hip cat as ABXY Reviews on Twitter and on YouTube.
