“Opinioneering” episodes on TWRM Origins, Nerdom, and Superman

American writers often say they find it difficult to write Superman. They say he’s too powerful; you can’t give him problems. But Superman is a metaphor. For me, Superman has the same problems we do, but on a Paul Bunyan scale. If Superman walks the dog, he walks it around the asteroid belt because it can fly in space. When Superman’s relatives visit, they come from the 31st century and bring some hellish monster conqueror from the future. But it’s still a story about your relatives visiting.

It’s the end of Podcast Week, so far as I’m concerned. I got to appear in three episodes of two different podcasts this week! What a rush!

I’ve already mentioned the launch of MAGE CAST to death at this point so that’s not our concern in this post today. Instead, I wanted to take the opportunity to mention the podcast Opinioneering to our readers.

Opinioneering is hosted by Danny, Jason, and Colton, a few people I personally knew from way back when. Danny is the guy who caught me dancing in a parking lot with my then-girlfriend, now-wife to “Theme of Love” from Final Fantasy IV… and for months he tried to get me on his podcast. As it turns out, I suppose some time in the hazy past we decided we’d talk about JourneyAnd… that ended up being the subject of the first episode of MAGE CAST recorded two days before I appeared on Opinioneering!

I guess my life’s goal is just to surprise Danny in any way I possibly can. I also told him I had moved to Nevada when he gave me his address to get to his house hahaha!

Anyway, I finally became a guest on Opinioneering after all this time and it was a lot of fun. It was only my second time as a guest on a podcast after It’s A Classic, so I really went in as an observer. Danny and Jason (Colton wasn’t there) didn’t know I was watching their every move like a creepy neighbor peeking through the proverbial blinds. In all seriousness, though, it was a very relaxed experience with a great sense of welcome to share whatever I wanted to. I think that’s got to be at the top as far as what guests on podcasts really want.

The proof of that lies in the fact that our two-hour recording session ended up going for something like four-and-a-half hours instead and I didn’t care! It was that enjoyable and welcoming. Our conversations lasted for so long that Opinioneering is cranking out the recording across multiple episodes. Heck, there’s an entire episode just about us talking Superman, anti-heroes, and what the prototypical idealist superhero means.

I hope you check out some of these episodes and more! Give Opinioneering a couple likes and follows and subscribes (whatever the hip kids are calling such things these days). See you and please don’t be offended by all the things I said I hated in one of the episodes! lol
